Though modest in A4 scale, this thangka of Orgyen Menla reveals detail that defies its size. At the center of a golden, radiant halo, his luminous body, deep blue like precious lapis lazuli, bears a gentle smile and is draped in garments adorned with delicate motifs.
Flowers encircle him within the radiant rainbow halo and various ritual offerings adorn the composition. On the viewer’s left, a pair of cranes symbolizes long life; on the right, twin peacocks, revered for their mythical ability to overcome and transform poison, appear as sacred emblems of healing.
