Vajrayogini
- Radiant red dakini of secret essence -
At the center of a swirling nimbus of flame, She dances atop a corpse laid upon a sun disc resting on a multicolored lotus.
Adorned with a garland of severed heads, a crown of skulls, and bone ornaments, She appears as a young and alluring dakini, wearing a smile both seductive and fearsome, her three eyes opened wide. Her mouth reveals sharp canine fangs; her long orange hair whips upward like fire.
She is the sky dancer — magnetic and terrifying.
Dancing atop a corpse on a sun disc over a multicolored lotus, She blazes within a swirl of flame — Adorned with skulls and bones, her fierce three eyes wide, fangs bared, hair aflame.
She is the magnetic, terrifying sky dancer.

This thangka rendered in the Karma Gadri tradition, portraying a form of Vajrayogini visualized in Dzogchen Sangwa Nyingtik practice. Above her head appears Guru Déwa Chenpo—one of the manifestations of Guru Rinpoche—dressed in monastic robes.
Despite the depiction of numerous elements—including various offerings, natural scenery, animals, and a cave-dwelling meditator—the composition achieves a sense of spaciousness through the allocation of a large portion to the sky and the thoughtful placement of blank areas. Within such an expansive composition, the painting reveals finely detailed work throughout, inviting continuous discovery.
By using highly saturated colors for shading over a muted base, a balanced effect is achieved that radiates brilliance without appearing overly flashy. This same approach is reflected in the depiction of Vajrayoginī, whose red skin and fiery orange hair are rendered through a blend of multiple red and yellow pigments, enhanced by the use of highly saturated red dyes to achieve a soft yet striking tone.
