This thangka portrays Green Tara, a revered female deity widely venerated in Tibetan Buddhism, rendered here with the subtle aesthetic sensibility of Japanese Buddhist painting.

Unlike traditional Tibetan thangkas, this work adopts a more minimal composition. The entire background is colored in soft yellow ochre tones, with its upper portion subtly shaded in crimson and illuminated with golden brass powder—suggestive of the radiant presence of Amitabha Buddha, represented with the seed syllable “Hrīḥ” in Lantsa script within a golden circle.
