Chenrezig
- The Embodiment of Infinite Compassion -
Avalokiteśvara, known in Tibet as Chenrezig, is the bodhisattva of infinite compassion, gazing upon the suffering of all beings with boundless mercy.
His white body, shining like moonlight, reflects the mind’s purest nature.
As the protector deity of Tibet, he vowed never to rest until every sentient being is freed from the wheel of suffering, cradling at his heart the sacred token—a symbol of that unwavering vow.
Gazing upon all beings with boundless mercy, he shines with a white, moon-like radiance that mirrors the mind’s pure nature.
Cradling a sacred token at his heart, he vows never to rest until all are freed from suffering.

This thangka depicts Chenrezig, one of the most widely venerated deities in Tibetan Buddhism, in his four-armed form, seated in serene stillness with Amitābha depicted above his head—the Buddha of the Lotus Family, to which he belongs.
His unstained white body is softly shaded with subtle tones of red, preserving its luminous clarity. The fine patterns of lotus blossoms—symbols of the Lotus Family—are delicately painted in gold across his flowing garments. The transparent halo surrounding him is rendered with delicate, wave-like gold lines and radiates the light of the five symbolic colors—white, blue, yellow, red, and green—as described in the Sādhana.
