This work is a reproduction of the revered “Portrait of Rennyo Shōnin” (preserved at Higashi Honganji, Kyoto), depicting the 8th head of the Honganji temple and a major figure in the revitalization of Jōdo Shinshū (True Pure Land Buddhism).

Painted with Japanese Sumi ink, shell white (gofun), and mineral pigments on silk, reflecting traditional Japanese painting techniques. This painting is paired with a portrait of Shinran Shōnin, symbolizing the continuity of the Jōdo Shinshū lineage from founder to successor.
