A reproduction featuring a portrait of Rennyo shonin, the 8th head of the Honganji temple and a major figure in the revitalization of Jōdo Shinshū (True Pure Land Buddhism). The original work is a faithful reproduction of the Portrait of Rennyo Shōnin (preserved at Higashi Honganji, Kyoto), rendered on silk using classical Japanese painting techniques.
This piece was created as a companion to the portrait of Shinran Shonin, forming a harmonious pair.
